Travel envy… BUT in a good way

Now that nearly all the restrictions have lifted, I feel like the urge to travel somewhere has hit me quite strongly. I did get to go away this summer with my parents and baby Asher for a few days to visit family in Calgary; however I do still feel like I need an airplane trip soon. I’m not sure if anybody else gets that feeling too, maybe I’m crazy, hahahaha, but I love a long haul flight. I had some bad ones over the years but mainly fond memories of picking a film or 3 to watch, having a stack of trashy magazines to read, and some overpriced snacks to round things out. I am pretty much a pro at flights now unless I get a tummy ache. That is the worst.

When I was about 5 months along with Asher we had to take a flight to Vancouver to be seen at BC Women’s hospital. Thomas and I went together and thankfully had a very good report, which was such a miracle for us. After that day of hospital stuff was done, we got to tour about in Vancouver and also Victoria for the day. I really like Victoria and I am really looking forward to going back. I think Asher would do well with a shorter flight, and a quicker trip. Plus they have really good tacos there down at fisherman’s wharf, and this baby does love to eat.

I have friends and family that are either on trips right now or are booked to go places. Disney, Cuba, hotels with private pools that you can swim up to your own patio and have a butler deliver you champagne… sigh. Does sound nice after two+ years of being pretty much stuck at home.

I’m so glad people are out on these travel adventures; even though it does brew some envy inside me. If they didn’t post pictures of them enjoying life while away, then I wouldn’t even get the chance to live vicariously through them- so really it’s win win!

If anybody ever reads this, what are your thoughts on travel with a baby? Did you go somewhere and think “what were we thinking bringing a baby here!? It’s too hot! There’s sand in every nook and cranny! Everybody is sunburnt!” Or did you have the opposite experience?

If you feel like sharing your experiences, please do!

Thanks for reading, x
